A Little Reminder from Aunt Marion's Kitchen
Aunt Marion's Wisdom

Well, summer's over, and it's time to say goodbye to the folks who've been filling my Jersey Shore inn with laughter, sandy feet, and enough wet bathing suits to keep my laundry room busy until Thanksgiving. Thank the Lord they took them home.
As I air out the rooms and tuck everything away for the quieter months, I find myself smiling over the memories. Mostly good ones. Some guests are such a delight that I wish they'd stay another week. Others? Well, let's just say the Lord and I have had a few extra conversations on their behalf.
You know the kind of folks I mean. The ones who test your patience, stretch your good manners, and make you wonder if loving your neighbor comes with an exception clause.
Of course, Jesus tells us to love them. And I do. Truly, I do. But I'll let you in on a little secret. Sometimes I find it considerably easier to love certain people when they're twenty miles down the road. Thirty wouldn't hurt either. I'm just sayin'.
That's why I keep a special sign hanging in my kitchen. It reminds me that being a servant of the Lord isn't measured by how sweetly I treat people who are sweet to me. The real test comes when someone treats me like I'm their personal doormat.
That's when my Christian walk can start looking more like a Christian stumble.
Whenever I catch myself getting a little too big for my apron, I glance at that sign and remember that Jesus never promised serving Him would be easy. He did, however, show us how it's done.
So, if someone is testing your Christian walk today, take a deep breath, say a little prayer, and remember the words on my kitchen wall.
And if you can't move twenty miles away from that difficult person, well, you can always ask the Lord to help you move a little closer to Him. Because sometimes the person who needs the most adjusting isn't the one across the room. It's the one looking back at us in the mirror.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have rooms to clean, banana-everything muffins to bake, and a few more prayers to pray.
Always in Christ's service,
Aunt Marion
